The Season Finale Brings Checkered Flags to MDB Motorsports

After a very stong 2009 season the MDB Motorsports Team wrapped it up with a feature win Saturday night Sept. 5th making it all worth Matt's trip From Charlotte NC. to Lake Erie Speedway .After the win Matt found himself finishing 5th in the Nascar Whelen All American Series Track points.

"What a way to end a season. We worked hard all year and it feels good to end it with another win." For now Matt will concentrate on his college classes at UNC Charlotte. Plans for the 2010 season are still up in the air depending on the #1 key in this sport "Sponsorship." We don't want to come out of the gate swinging, we want to come out and knock them down." Our main goal in the next few months is to acquire a marketing partner to team up with and move forward in 2010.

I would like to thank all my past and present sponsors for all their support throughout the years. Without all of your help none of this would be possible. Also a special thanks to my crew, you are all awesome!! I really appreciate all the long hours at the shop and spending your weekends on the road and at the track for me.......We all do make for a great team. Looking forward to the 2010 season...Hope everyone has a great off season..............

MOTHER NATURE VS. THE 150!

The Lake Erie 150 took place Sat July 18th, the weather was a factor all day. There were 28 cars in attendence. There were 4 heat races with 7 cars in each. Matt started 5th in the first heat race, and had an awesome race,He ran the outside groove the whole race acquiring another heat race win.The top 12 qualifiers had to redraw for the start of the feature, Matt started in the 4th position, within a few laps he had taken the lead. After the first caution on a double file restart he fell into 2nd,and continued to run in the top 5 for 60 laps before developing a slight problem with his car.The brakes on the car started to fade away so in an attempt to prevent them from totally going away he began racing conservatively. In the end he finished with a 10th place finish, Matt and the team were hoping for a better finish, but with no control of the brake situation this is the way racing goes. The driver can only drive the car he has, in that respect we were happy to then come home with a top 10.

JULY 4th FIREWORKS!

July 4th proved to be a great night for MDB Motorsports at Lake Erie Speedway.....Matt went for a wild ride in the heat race, attempting 3 wide a few times, but he settled for a 2nd place finish. The feature was just as exciting with Matt fighting for 3rd position for more than half the race, along with 2 other fine racers, but in the end Matt respectfully took a 4th place finish. We could not be happier with the way the season has been progressing, We will be off this weekend and are looking forward to The Lake Erie 150 on the 18th of July. That will be the longest race of the season.......Driver and crew alike are ready for a great weekend.................Check back soon for results........

SEASON UPDATE

Our season has been progressing quite well, actually it has been awesome. The crew has been doing a great job at keeping me up front. We have had 5 top ten finishes in the last 5 weeks (plus 1 rainout). We continued the streak this past Saturday June 27th with a heat race win and after an awesome battle for 5th we settled for a 6th place finish in the feature event. This year we are running for points at Lake Erie Speedway and we have to be somewhat conservative (one DNF and it will hurt our points bad!) We will be at LES on July 4th for a weekly show and will have a week off before returning to LES on July 18th for the biggest event of the season “The Lake Erie 150.”

SEASON OPENER AT LAKE ERIE

Opening Day at Lake Erie Speedway proved to be a very eventful day for the whole MDB Motorsports team. after one round of practice Matt discovered a problem with the transmission in his car. Not wanting to chance major problems in the race, the crew decided to roll out his backup car which was set up for a completely different type of track. The crew worked their tails off changing shocks, springs, trailing arms, track bar adjustments, etc. to make it get around the progressively banked track at Lake Erie. After two rounds of practice Matt was turning good lap times around the 4/10th mile oval. All the hard work paid off with Matt bringing home a 5th place finish at the season opener at Lake Erie Speedway. "My crew worked very hard all day and I am very happy with a top 5 finish. I am looking forward to racing friday night at Motordrome Speedway, and getting back in my primary car saturday night at Lake Erie Speedway."

READY FOR 2009 CHALLENGE
After a long winter preparing for the 2009 racing season, Matt and the crew looked forward to getting back on the track. Due to diminishing sponsorship in 2009, the team decided to skip preseason testing and start off their season at Motordrome Speedway's fast 1/2 mile oval with their NASCAR Weekly Series race. On Friday, April 17th, Matt started off with two short practice runs. After limited track time, Matt and the crew were not sure what to expect. Matt started 8th in the heat race only picking up one spot, finishing 7th in the 10 lap heat race. "After a tough start to the night, I wasn't sure what to expect in the feature," said Matt. They knew that they needed to come up with some sort of strategy for the 50 lap feature race. Matt lined up 14th on the grid and was able to race his way up to the sixth spot by lap 41, when his car began to tighten up coming off the turn making it tough to make a good pass. He was able to hold on to a sixth place finish. "I was very happy with the outcome of our first race. The guys worked hard preparing for the season as well as at the track on Friday." They are looking forward to returning to Motordrome in a few weeks before heading north to Lake Erie Speedway's NASCAR Series season opener on May 23.

After having a very successful 2008 racing season, I would like to thank all of my sponsors, without your support, my racing dream would be that, only a dream.  I would also like to thank the fans, especially my local fans who travel hundreds of miles to come and see me race.  Also thanks to my fellow racers for racing me clean all season (well mostly all season!).  I would also like to thank my crew for sticking with me.  What a way to turn a season around after a rough first three races.  We all worked extremely hard as a team all year long and proved what a great team can do together.
–Win Races-
I am hoping that we can carry this momentum into the 2009 racing season and continue to do the same.  Lastly I would like to thank my parents.  Without my parents, the long road to reach my dream would never have been started.  Thanks again to all and I am looking forward to your support in 2009.
